Interview with author Toni L Meilleur

Hi everyone. Here’s an interview I did with a fellow CP author. Unfortunately it’s been lost in an email filter/folder for a few months. But I found it and here it is for your reading pleasure. Enjoy darlings!

MC: Hi Toni! Let’s dive right in. You’re a writer, obviously, so tell us why you wanted to be a writer and what you write.

TM: Hi, Madison. I discovered I wanted to be a writer at eleven years of age when I wrote my first poem. However I never could find the right genre I wanted to write in, until I read my first erotic romance novel. Needless to say that’s what I write, but I do plan on exploring my horizons.

MC: Who are some of your favorite authors? Books that have inspired you?

TM: Oh, I have so many. Christine Feehan, Karen Marie Moning and Jaid Black, Terry Brooks. I would have to say Jaid Black inspired me to write erotic romance.

MC: You’re active in your local theater. What’s your favorite part that you’ve played and why?

TM: Right now, I’m in the throes of rehearsal for Chicago. I have to say this is my favorite role as a Merry Murderess because let’s face it, being bad is so much fun!

MC: You’re also a personal trainer. Tell us about that.

TM: Since I’ve always been a small woman, I’ve always worked out, since having muscle tone gives definition to a slim body and it makes me look bigger (yay!) It became my passion, to help people achieve the look that they want. I really enjoy it, it doesn’t feel like a job at all.

MC: Tell us about your books. How many have you published so far?

TM: I have six books published so far and only one is a contemporary. I like to take the readers out of the world they know into a different one, so my stories tend to be paranormal or futuristic.

MC: What’s coming up from you?

TM: Well one of my books with Venus Press- Bloodlines : Alliances is a trilogy so the second one is finished and will be coming out soon. I have to get cracking on the last and final part.

MC: Who are you published with?

TM: I have to say I love all the companies I am published with: Samhain Publishing, Venus Press and Cobblestone Press

MC: What advice do you have for new authors & writers?

TM: Discipline. Having an idea for a story is awesome, however putting it to paper takes committment. Life can get so busy. My advice is when you start a story, schedule that time for yourself to reach your writing goal.

MC: If you were to compare your work to other authors, who would you say that your work most resembles in plot, tone, or voice?

TM: Ah that’s a good one. Every author wishes to have his/her own voice but sometimes influences can’t be helped. I would have to say Jaid Black.

MC: What’s something readers may not know about you?

TM: I’m a clothing shopaholic. I love clothes, boots, accessories, and unique jewelry. I love changing my look on a daily basis.

MC: How about some fun questions? Do you have a motto?

TM: Yes, when I was younger it used to be ‘Do unto others before they do unto you’. Thankfully I’ve grown a bit so now it’s ‘Teach what you know, give away what you don’t need’

MC: How about a favorite phrase?

TM: This too shall pass

MC: Give us five words that describe you.

TM: Spontaneous.Observant.Creative.Disciplined.Active

MC: Is the glass half full or half empty?

TM: Always half full, it leaves room to fill

MC: What are your hobbies?

TM: Shopping for clothes, gardening, making clothes.

MC: Favorite food?

TM: This is sooo hard! I love food. Can I just say Italian?

MC: Favorite beverage?

TM: Cappucino

MC: Worst fear?

TM: Having a regret in life, because you can’t go back and correct them.

MC: Favorite movies?

TM: Alien and Predator. I love Sci-Fi and horror movies.

MC: Favorite TV shows?

TM: Nip/Tuck, Stargate and Stargate Atlantis. Smallville and Supernatural

MC: If you could travel to any time and place, when, where and why?

TM: I’ve always liked the Renaissance era, not that it was particularly good for women but

because the clothes were beautiful.

MC: Do you have a favorite sport?

TM: Not really, occasionally I’ll watch the end of a basketball game.

MC: How can readers get in touch with you?

TM: Anytime they want via email: Kleverkytten@aol.com
