It’s Fall, Ya’ll

At last, fall has finally arrived down here in the steamy south. For a while there I was beginning to think it would never cool off. When you can fry an egg on the driveway in September, it’s way too hot.

On the other hand, if you can fry an egg on a fireman’s abs in September, it’s just right…

Today was blissfully cool. A few rain drops here and yonder (for those non southerners in the audience that means “over there.” For a moment I even glimpsed a rainbow. That just made my day. It’s the little things.

I have some fun news but I need to hold off a few more days before announcing it. Come back soon, okay?

September 2010

slowburn_200Dear Readers,

I hope you had a pleasant, peach filled summer. Fall is just around the corner down here in the Southeast. I’m looking forward to the change of scenery, the crackle of autumn leaves, a crisp breeze (or two.)

I’m hard at work on my next novel. It’s not been going as quickly as I’d hoped; life has a way of getting in the way. I’ve also gotten rights back to two previous releases: Slow Burn and Portrait of Seduction. I plan on doing something with those very soon.

You can still find Power of Seduction here. A perfect treat for Halloween. Can you believe it’s almost here?

Love,

Madison

95 Words on a New Story

Hi folks, long time no talk. Hope everyone is having a fantastic, peach filled summer. I’m doing my best to stay cool. I’m happy to report that I’m “breaking ground” on a fabulous new paranormal story. Can’t tell you any more than that yet. But it’s awesome. I’m excited. Let’s hope the fingers fly and this puppy gets finished soon. Real soon.

Talking about Date Nights

I’m talking about date nights over at Sensual. Come tell me about your ideal date night.

Too much s-e-x?

I’m slowly catchin’ up on my blog reading and I came across this post talking about sex in our industry. How much is too much? Is it harder to write sexy or to add sexy or to take it out?

I’m of the mind that the story should be as sexy as the premise and the characters. I don’t write my books with a set number of sex scenes in mind. There could be zero if the story doesn’t warrant one.

There are always things you can do to “up” the tension. And you can always add sex scenes. But does it matter? Does “more sex” make a book better?

Believe it or not, I’ve been told before that I don’t write sexy enough. Yeah, I shook my head at that too. What I guess they meant was that I don’t include love scene after love scene.

Oh well. That doesn’t bother me so long as people keep reading and enjoying my books.

I did like this part though: a paranormal romance author should be able to do solid world-building.

Let’s just hope I can keep doing that.
